The Coaching Staff for Stars United was put together to provide professional leadership while constantly training and developing players & teams. In addition they are charged with constantly educating the membership and club supporters about the great game of soccer and the proper pathway for players to reach their full potential and personal goals.

Coach Perry completed his second year as the Boys Head Coach at Center High School, with a section championship and as the WPIAL Finalists. During his 21 years as a head coach, his teams have made 20 playoff appearances. His combination record of his teams while at Hampton High School (1987-1990), Fox Chapel High School (1991-2005) and Center High School (2006-present) is 358-84-19 which includes 16 Section Championships, 3 WPIAL Championships, 5 WPIAL Runner-ups, and PIAA State Champs. Coach Perry is also the PA West ODP 1994 Boys coach and holds a USSF National "C" License. Coach Perry is the manager of Tri-County Soccer & Sports Center in Freedom, PA.

Coach Kowalski is in his seventh year as head coach of the Robert Morris University women’s soccer team. Within the local, national and international soccer communities, Kowalski has been just about everywhere and done just about everything: indoor team coach and player, Men's and Women's college head coach at the NCAA Division I and II levels, U.S. National Team interim head coach, and Major League Soccer (MLS) and A-League head coach. Coach Kowalski has the USSF National “A” Coaching License and is an Assistant Coach with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Coach Kowalski guided the 94/95 Stars United Girls to the semi-finals at the 2008 PA West State Cup.

	Bob MacZura U17 Boys (91/92) U12 Boys (96/97)	Coach MacZura is a native of the St. Louis region at Assumption HS before moving to Fox Chapel High School where he was a three year varsity player. Played on the Western PA U19 select team that placed 2^nd in a northeast regional tournament. Was a NAIA District 18 all conference selection his senior year at Penn State-Behrend where he was a 4-year starter. After completing college he played in the Pittsburgh region for various teams throughout the Keystone League for over 15 years. Was a licensed PIAA official for over 13 years and then started coaching. Currently has his State “D” coaching certificate.	maczura@nauticom.net
	Graeme Eastgate U15 Boys (93/94)	Coach Eastgate played Division I collegiate soccer at Robert Morris University winning 3 regular season Northeast Conference titles, 1 NEC tournament and participated in the NCAA tournament in 1994. A Seneca Valley graduate, two-time WPIAL Section 5 Selection. Playing experience with Beadling and a Pittsburgh Strikers U20 team that placed third at Regionals in 1996. Ten years coaching experience with North United boys, Quickskills clinics, and John Kowalski’s Star Striker Soccer Camps. 	Tony Firth U14 Boys (94/95)	Coach Firth is from England and played at various amateur levels prior to developing a serious interest in coaching. A holder of the English FA Preliminary and Intermediate coaching certificates (now UEFA C & B), he coached youth teams in West Yorkshire from U8 through U14 age groups. Notable coaching achievements include coaching a regional select team to three wins in four finals in the prestigious Yorkshire Cup International Tournament. And winner or runner-up of the Gelpack Premier Division and Cup in every coaching year. Tony guided the 94/95 Stars United Boys to the semi-finals at the 2007 PA West State Cup and finalists at the 2008 PA West State Cup.	tfirth@zoominternet.net
	Bill Hildenbrand U13 Boys (95/96)	Coach Hildenbrand, in his 37 years of coaching, has an extensive pedigree, including founder NAJC, inclusion in the Penn State Behrend Hall of Fame, and a 30-year stint as Assistant Coach for North Allegheny Boys High School. 	Jon Miller U10 Boys (98/99) U9 Boys (99/00)	Coach Miller has a wide array of coaching experience. He has been the Stars United U9 and U10 boys coach since 2006. Prior to Stars United, Coach Miller assisted Adel Heder with the IUP woman's program and Indiana Area Youth Soccer. Coach Miller played collegiate soccer at Marietta College then turned his attention to the IUP club team where he was player/coach. Coach Miller played high school soccer at Fox Chapel under Mark Perry, where he led his team to the 1998 WPIAL Championship and PIAA play-offs. 	Ryan Hoffman U17 Girls (91/92) Stars United Goalkeepers Coach	Coach Hoffman has 8 years coaching experience including 6 years as the current head coach of the Mercer High School Girls Soccer team. He has lead the Mercer girls to 2 consecutive District 10 playoff appearances, a first in the programs 8 year history. Coach Hoffman has over 22 years playing experience as a goal keeper. 	Lee McGinn U16 Girls (92/93)	Coach McGinn is currently JV Boys coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Sewickley Academy. In his six seasons at Sewickley Academy, two seasons as Head Boy’s Varsity Coach, Academy teams have made 6 WPIAL play-off appearances, won 2 WPIAL championships, 4 Section titles and made 5 PIAA play-off appearances. 	Dave Sylvester U15 Girls (93/94)	Coach Sylvester has been the Head Coach for Seneca Valley High School Girls Varsity for the past 7 years and has compiled a record of 95 wins, 31 losses, and 16 ties. He has led the Raiders to 7 WPIAL playoff appearances, 2 Section Championships, and this past fall the WPIAL AAA Girls Championship. He holds a USSF "C" Coaching License.	sylvestr@zoominternet.net

	Bill Paholich U10 Girls (98/99)	Coach Paholich played collegiate soccer at St. Vincent College where he was a four-year starter. Also a four year starter for Deer Lakes High School, winning various awards. He has been the JV & Assistant Varsity coach of the Hampton Girls HS program for the past seven years. 	Bill Juergens U17 Boys (91/92) U12 Boys (96/97)	Coach Juergens is originally from Elkton, MD where he earned All-State honors before continuing his playing career at Grove City College. At Grove City College, was a four year letter winner, three year team Captain, team MVP, three year All-Presidents Athletic Conference team, Regional All-American and National All-American. In 2001 he was part of the inaugural class inducted into the Grove City College Soccer Hall of Fame. Juergens brings 25 years of coaching experience to Stars United. After settling in Western Pennsylvania, he was the first head coach for the boys varsity team at Mercer High School and in four years took the team to it's first District 10 play-off appearance. Past Director of Coaching and Player development for Mercer Area Youth Soccer Association. Coached the Stars United U-12 & U-15 boys teams to semi-final appearances in the 2007 PA West State Cup and the 94/95 U13 Boys to finalists at the 2008 PA West State Cup.	bill@burnsroof.com
	Marco Patitucci U15 Boys (93/94)	Coach Patitucci played Division I collegiate soccer at Robert Morris University winning 2 regular season Northeast Conference titles, 2 NEC tournaments, and participated in two NCAA tournaments. Marco was selected as the NEC Tournament MVP in 1994 and three-time All-NEC Team. A Fox Chapel graduate, All-Section, All-WPIAL, All-State player, and PIAA State Champs. Prior coaching experience with Beadling Soccer Club, Quickskills clinics, and as Director of John Kowalski’s Star Striker Soccer Camps.
	Jason Defranco U15 Boys (93/94)	Coach Defranco played Division I collegiate soccer at Robert Morris University in the Northeast Conference. As team captain, he was a three-time All-American, All Mid-Atlantic team selection and three-time all-NEC team selection. Shaler Area graduate, Section 5 player of the year in 1997. High School All-American selection, two-time All-State selection and three-time All-WPIAL and Section selection. Won numerous PA West State Cup Titles with Beadling Soccer Club. Prior coaching experience with Knoch High School Varsity team and JV team as well as various camps and clinics.
	Tony Hindley U14 Girls (94/95)	Coach Hindley played collegiate soccer at Slippery Rock University, where he was selected two time all-state and a National All-American. North Allegheny graduate, three time all-WPIAL, two-time All-State selection. Experience coaching various SVSA teams and Stars United girls for four years. Coach Hindley was inducted into the North Allegheny Sports Hall of Fame in 2007!

	Bill Turner STAFF COACH	Coach Turner played Division I collegiate soccer at St. Francis College in the Northeast conference. As team captain, he is the school's all-time leading scorer. All Mid-Atlantic team selection, Two-time All NEC selection and All Rookie NEC Team. A North Allegheny graduate, Section 5 Player of the Year 1991. Two-time All WPIAL Selection. North Allegheny's All-time Assist Leader. Three PA West State Cup titles on different teams. Prior coaching experience with Beaver Jr. High Girls, NA Jr. High Girls, various camps and clinics. Bill guided the 93/94 Stars United Girls to the State Cup Final in 2007 and Third Place at the 2006 State Cup.
	Jim Perry STAFF COACH	Coach Perry was Fox Chapel High School Boys Head Coach for 20 years & Assistant Coach 7 years. He is also on the PA West ODP staff.
	Bruno Schwarz STAFF COACH	Coach Schwarz was North Allegheny High School Boys Head Coach for 36 years. North Allegheny qualified for the playoffs 20 consecutive times. The Tigers won six WPIAL Class AAA championships under Schwarz and went to the PIAA finals four times. The Tigers also won the state championship in 2000.
